New Boyz

New Boyz  is a “jerk music” group made up of teenagers Ben J (Earl Benjamin ) and Legacy (Dominic Thomas) from Hesperia, California.  New Boyz started 2009 doing gigs in local high school gyms and ended it by performing on the red carpet at the BET awards.

Their meteoric rise was fueled by the tremendous success of their debut single “You’re a Jerk” from their debut studio album â€œSkinny Jeanz and a Mic” on Asylum/Warners Brothers.   The single rose to number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. It became the most requested song on L.A.’s Power 106 radio station and sold more than fifty three thousand copies its first week on iTunes. The second single the band released, Tie Me Down", featuring R&B singer Ray J, reached number 26 on the Hot 100.   

“You’re a Jerk” has not only brought New Boyz world-wide recognition, the song has also brought a lot of attention to Los Angeles’ growing, teen-driven, jerk music movement. Jerk music is defined by a stripped down, party sound. The ultra-bright video for “You’re a Jerk” features many of the rubber-limbed dance crews associated with the scene.
