The famous rapper Lil Wayne was born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. on September 27, 1982. His debut album Tha Block is Hot was released in 1999 and sold over two million copies being certified double platinum. The young rapper's next two albums Lights Out (2000) and 500 Degreez (2002) were a commercial success reaching platinum, respectively gold. Lil Wayne's populariy increased starting with the 2004 Carter series.

Tha Carter reached number five on Billboard 200, and number two on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
