Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Frankie Avalon started out young in the entertainment industry at age 12, when he performed trumpet live on television. This teen idol thrived as a singer and an actor and would then go on to chart 31 hits on the US Billboard charts from 1958 to 1962, including Venus, Why, I'll Wait For You, Bobby Sox Stockings, Just Ask Your Heart, and A Boy Without a Girl. He starred in various movies including Beach Blanket Bingo and Beach Party with Annette Funicello, The Alamo with John Wayne, and the sci-fi hit Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. He sang Beauty School Dropout in the motion picture musical Grease and has appeared in TV shows such as The Bing Crosby Show.
