Coolio
Coolio was born Artis Leon Ivey, Jr. on August 1, 1963, in Inglewood, California. Grammy Award-winning American rapper is well-known all over the world for his outstanding 1995 single Gangsta's Paradise which appeared on the soundtrack of the movie Dangerous Minds. Booking Coolio will take you back to the wonderful hip hop of the 1990’s up to the year 2000. Coolio made his debut as a rapper as a member of the rap group WC and the Maad Circle whose other members were WC, Sir Jinx and DJ Crazy Toones. 1994, after having left the group, Coolio released his debut album It Takes a Thief that reached number eight on Billboard Hot 200. The album included the singles Fantastic Voyage and I Remember, which featured J-Ro and Tash of Tha Alkaholiks.
His most successful album, Gangsta's Paradise was released in 1995 and it was certified four times platinum due to the eponymous single. His next albums My Soul (1997), El Cool Magnifico (2002), and The Return of the Gangsta (2006) did not have the same success as the Gangsta's Paradise. |
